New Korean Buddhist Temple

Lautrec Consulting is proud to have provided the civil and structural engineering for Auckland’s new Korean Buddhist Temple. Built on a peaceful site that was once a vibrant daffodil field, this project beautifully integrates Buddhist values of renewal, self-reflection, and forgiveness.

Our structural engineers brought the temple’s unique hexagonal main building to life, featuring a striking mono-pitched roof and a decorative skin inspired by daffodil petals. The decorative skin is supported by an independent circular steel and timber structure blending elegance with engineering strength, overcoming complex design and wind load challenges.

On the civil engineering side, we tackled site issues with overland flow paths, flood risks, and unrecorded infrastructure. Our team developed smart solutions to protect both the temple and its natural surroundings.

Lautrec’s work has helped create a sanctuary that reflects Buddhist philosophy and demonstrates resilient engineering.
